From the moment she was 9 years old, Kay found herself drawn to the world of art. She fell in love with drawing, captivated by anime shows that sparked her imagination and inspired her to sketch characters, faces, and concepts with every free moment she had.
For years, drawing became her safe place and creative outlet. But as life unfolded with school, responsibilities, and personal challenges, she quietly stepped away from the world of art. What was once a daily joy became a distant memory, as she navigated the demands of growing up.
It wasn't until much later, during a difficult season of life, that Kay picked up a paintbrush once again, something she hadn't done in years. When she did, painting brought her calm, peace, and joy, becoming a powerful rediscovery. After experiencing life and the pressures of social circles where Afrocentric beauty was not given its full recognition in both beauty standards and the world market, she knew there needed to be a change. Today, Kaye paints not just for expression, but with purpose. Her hope is to spark joy, inspire others to embrace their identity, to highlight our features, and reflect the truth of who the Creator has made us to be.
